Shawnee Indian leader who campaigned against continuing land sales to White settlers and for a separate Indian state for Native American people. This would have extended from the Great Lakes in the north to Mexico in the south west. He lived, taught and fought with the moral conviction that like the oceans and the air, land cannot be bought.
