SAI BABA, Sathya

Religious leader with following of many millions. He claimed to be a reincarnation of his 19th century namesake and the Lord Krishna, and was associated with regular miracle working and healing. In addition to the huge residential ashram in India, there are now centres in countries throughout the world and elaborate educational programmes promoting truth, moral behaviour, peace, love and non-violence. Critics, including former associates, cite evidence of wilful deception, fraud and sexual abuse.
