Pioneering exponent of the Defining Issues Test (DIT). From his base in the University of Minnesota Psychology Department he led a collaborative team of scholars to develop a user-friendly means of testing the stage of a person’s moral development. This was an extension of the cognitive-developmental approach of Lawrence Kohlberg.
