NICHOLAS OF CUSA
- Era: 1401 - 1464
- Location: GERMANY
- Categories: PHILOSOPHY, RELIGION
Influential philosophical exponent of Christian theism – God is at the extremities of human reasoning, the coincidence of opposites such as immanence within and transcendence beyond, at both the centre and circumference of the ordered universe. Trained in law he explored the authority of the church and sought to reconcile the different forms of Christian churches. He also engaged positively with claims to truth of other religions, especially Islam.
