NAGARJUNA
- Era: c150-250
- Location: India
- Categories: RELIGION, PHILOSOPHY
Little known of his life - probably Hindu brahmin family background in S India and later based at Buddhist university of Nalanda in N India. He is generally recognised as the founder of the Middle Way tradition of Buddhism, expounded in his Mula-Madhyama-Karika. On the one hand he challenges a too easily taken for granted acceptance of things. On the other, being emptied from such false consciousness is not a finally negative experience.
