HABERMAS, Jurgen

Sociologist and philosopher who acknowledges that we live in a pluralist, multi-perspectival world - a community of different selves. This creates a categorical requirement that for morality, law and effective democracy we must understand and take account of the views of others. Conversation and dialogue are the life blood of the public square and religious beliefs are more powerfully part of this than once it might have been intellectually acceptable to admit.
