Founder of the Christian Science movement/religion. This was rooted in her personal experience of healing and her response to the stories of Jesus and to the teaching of Phineas Quimby. She set out her contested belief that the mind is the best means of overcoming illness in her book Science and Health and this was and remains the platform of the Church of Christ, Scientist.
